Topic: Semiconducting Nanomaterials Research
Abstract
High-phase purity semiconductor nanowires and nanoribbons are produced in large-quantity via the oxide-assisted growth (OAG) and metal-catalyzed vapor-liquid-solid (VLS) methods. Systematic characterizations reveal the novel structural, optical, electronic, and chemical properties of silicon and II-VI (ZnS, CdS, ZnxCd1-xS, etc) nanowires and nanoribbons. These one-dimensional nanomaterials are shown to offer unprecedented exciting opportunities for fundamental research as well as novel sensing and optoelectronic applications.
