Abstract:
Stress Corrosion Cracking, SCC, is an important degradation mechanism in many situations. The group working within the Materials Performance Centre at the University of Manchester is concerned with understanding and predicting SCC in materials that are used in nuclear reactor environments, and this seminar will describe some of this work. The materials being examined are primarily nickel-base alloys (notably Alloy 600) and austenitic stainless steels.
