报告摘要:The physics properties of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are sensitive to the number of the shells, the tube diameter, the chirality, the presence of dopants/defects, the morphology and the environment in which the CNTs reside. Theoretical works predict the existence of the Y-shape and helically coil CNTs, which have not only the unique morphology but also the fascinating electrical and mechanical properties. In this presentation, I will introduce the synthesis process of CNTs with controllable morphology, such as Y-shaped multi walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs), helically coiled MWNTs/carbon nanowires (CNWs). We propose the synthesis mechanism based on the thermodynamic theory. “Gateless” switching and logic devices were built based on Y-shape MWNTs, which indicate the promising possibility for fabricating the logic circuit on branched CNTs. We also exhibit that the helically coiled CNTs/CNWs can be used as energy absorbing material for the shock protection. And helically coiled CNTs are also shown as efficient polymer filler for EMI shielding. By controlling the morphology of CNTs, we can tailor the properties of CNT and broad its application.
